Skating Programs

Garden City Community Centre/Seven Oaks Arena is pleased to provide Learn to Skate programming.  Our program focuses on fun, positive, basic skill development.

Learn to Skate Tots

This program is perfect for new young skaters.  Parent participation is not required however parents may skate with their child until the child is comfortable on their own. If the Parent wishes to skate with the child a Skate Canada Membership must be purchased for each adult planning to skate with their child at the time of registration. Well fitted, sharpened skates and a CSA approved ice (hockey) helmet are mandatory.  Please note we do not supply skates or helmets.

Learn to Skate Youth Levels 1-6

Participants are instructed by a NCCP certified coach and assisted by trained Program Assistants in a group format according to ability. Coaches make the sessions fun with teaching aids, music and a wide variety of activities. Focus is placed on balance, control, and agility. Skaters progress at their own rate and upon completion of each milestone the child is awarded a ribbon. Each child will also receive a report card at the end of the program. Well fitted, sharpened skates and a CSA approved ice (hockey) helmet are mandatory.  Please note we do not supply skates or helmets.
